Hydrate Your Skin

Before you can apply makeup, it’s important to get your skin ready for it — especially if you have dry, dehydrated skin. To prepare your face for makeup, apply a moisturizer on your face and neck area. A moisturizer will help to not only achieve a smooth coverage of concealer, but might also help to give you that youthful glow instantly.

Buy the Right Foundation

At Cosmix Inc. make up artist school, students learn that not all foundations are good for mature skin.  There are several types of foundations that are best suitable for mature skin. These include cream bases (oil-free), moisture-enriched liquid bases, and mineral powder foundations.

Use a cream base foundation if you need maximum coverage. A cream base foundation can add moisture to the face, leaving it fresh and youthful. Moisture enriched liquid foundations provide less coverage than cream based products, but they offer added benefits such as antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. Mineral foundations are great because they heal and protect the skin from the sun. Use as a powder of mix with a moisturizer. If your skin appears ashy, consider using a yellow or yellow red toned foundation to offset the ashy hue. When applying foundation, make sure to apply it lightly so that it doesn’t settle into lines.

Say yes to Highlight and Shadow

A little highlighting and shadowing goes a long way to help you look younger. Highlight any area that looks discolored, especially the corners of the eyes and mouth, forehead lines, and the nasolabial folds.
